Registration for the 2008-2009 season will be held on September 19 & 21; please see the Calendar

Junior surf life saving carnivals give our nippers the opportunity to test the surf skills they have developed against children from other clubs. There are many carnivals held throughout the season. For details of local carnivals see the Calendar page.

It is not compulsory for Orcas to enter these competitions, it is entirely up to each individual. There are different levels of carnival competition, local, branch, interbranch & state. A minimum of 3 local carnivals must be attended to be eligible for interbranch carnivals, and all competitors must have completed their proficiency testing. See the Surf Education page for details.

A 200 metre timed swim must be completed before children may compete at any events at carnivals. This includes children only competing in beach based events (eg/ flags & sprints). The timed swim must be verified by an examiner and a day has been set aside for this. See the Calendar page for details.

This year our carnival coordinator is Sonya Drysdale. See her on the beach at each Orca's activity day.
