Austi Orcas Activities
Thursday, 8 January 2009
Austinmer SLSC
Registration for the 2008-2009 season will be held on September 19 & 21; please see the Calendar

Orcas activity mornings are held every second Sunday of the season from 8.45am (for roll call) until 11am with a short break for Christmas. An activity morning is where the Orcas form into their age groups, and, supervised by their age managers, complete a range of beach and water activities.

These include:
  •  pool and ocean swims
  •  board paddling
  •  flags events
  •  beach sprints & relays
  •  wades
  •  bucket relays
  •  volleyball
Some of these activities are competitive and points are awarded to winners and tallied on attendance sheets. At the end of the season these sheets contribute to the awarding of prizes. Points are given not only for competitive events but also for participation and attendance.

Being an Orca is about learning surf skills through participation in activities rather than competition. However members may compete in local, state and national competitions, provided there are sufficient parent volunteers to organise these entries.

For details on Activity Days, see the Calendar page.
