Not only is Austinmer SLSC the best surf life saving club on the coast of Australia, Austinmer Beach was voted the best in New South Wales in 2002. Austinmer Orcas is the junior (nipper) division of the Austinmer Surf Life Saving Club.
Austinmer Orcas has over 200 members and has an activity day every second Sunday morning during the summer surf season, usually October – March, at Austinmer Beach.
Austinmer Orcas’ aims are to develop positive memories, valuable surf skills and a community perspective in young people.
These aims are achieved by providing:
- A safe, supportive and enjoyable environment for children to gain surf competencies and participate in surf club activities.
- An education in all aspects of surf life saving and an awareness of the beach and marine environment.
- An environment that fosters transition into senior surf life saving and participation in other community based associations.
