History

Austinmer Surf Life Saving Club was founded in 1909 and continues today providing a safe, family friendly beach for both locals and visitors alike to enjoy.

2009 marked 100 years of life saving service to the community which is a terrific milestone and makes us all very proud to be a part of this amazing club.

To quote former Club President of 1944, Jack Cahill… “They (the life savers), are the life insurance of our beaches. They are the protection of bathers against fear, as also they are the guardians of life who enable parents to loll upon the sand in deep contentment while their children splash in the surf. So for every reason, each little thing that can be done to help these boys in their work should be undertaken by the public”.
